Schroders hits $600m final close for Global Innovation XI

Schroders Capital ends fundraising for its latest venture and growth fund in an established series

Schroders Capital has raised more than $600 million for its latest venture and growth private equity strategy, the Schroders Capital Global Innovation XI fund. It has secured commitments from a globally diversified base of institutional investors, including pension funds, insurers, foundations and family offices.

The fund targets exposure across the venture investment lifecycle, blending primary commitments to external managers with direct, co-investment and secondary deal flow. It emphasises access to established, often capacity-constrained managers and assets across sectors and geographies – with a notable tilt toward technology innovation.

A key theme in the latest portfolio in the series is generative AI, with investments including Scale AI, a market leader in AI data labelling and model evaluation. Another significant holding, cloud security firm Wiz, is set for a high-profile exit via Google’s pending $32 billion acquisition, subject to regulatory approval.

Steven Yang, head of global innovation at Schroders Capital, said the successful fundraise reflects growing appetite among investors for exposure to sectors experiencing rapid technological disruption.

“Disruptive innovation is occurring at pace and on a global scale, bringing compelling opportunities for investors,” Yang said, adding technology, AI and biopharma are at the forefront of this trend.

It global platform is “well-positioned to further capture the emerging growth and value creation opportunities from these shifts,” he added.

The raise marks the eleventh iteration of the strategy, which has deployed over $6.5 billion since its inception in 1997. Schroders Capital’s venture platform spans all key regions of activity and provides diversified access to private technology companies globally, according to the firm.

The fund close follows Schroders Capital’s 2024 launch of the UK’s first venture and growth Long-Term Asset Fund (LTAF), which recently completed a £500 million first close with support from the British Business Bank and Phoenix Group via their Future Growth Capital joint venture. The LTAF has since completed initial investments in UK-based AI firms Synthesia and Luminance.

Schroders Capital, the $99.3 billion private markets division of Schroders, manages strategies across private equity, real assets, infrastructure, private debt and impact investing.
